Dorothy V. Tupper (nee Kolonia), December 6, 1924 – September 2, 2020, of Bowie, MD, went to be with her Lord at age 95, from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents Peter, Sr. & Clara Kolonia, her husband Charles D. Tupper, and grandson, Christopher Haught. She is survived by three daughters, Donna Sonnemann (Craig) of Beltsville, MD; Darlene Haught of Annapolis, MD; and Debbie Wilson (Larry) of Bracey, VA, 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Kolonia (Joan) of Milford, NJ, and was preceded in death by brothers Peter, Jr. and David Kolonia, and sister, Bette Ketcham. Dorothy was born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts. After graduating from Colby-Sawyer Jr. College in New Hampshire she worked for Transworld Airlines (TWA) in Washington, DC. Following her marriage and the birth of her children she worked as a secretary at Greenbelt Middle School and Ridgecrest Elementary School in Prince George’s County, MD and retired at age 65. She was a long time active member of First Baptist Church of Hyattsville where she served as a deaconess, and in her later years when she moved to Bowie, MD she was a member of Grace Baptist Church, before moving to Collington Life Care in Bowie. She was a Girl Scout Leader, and her favorite activities were knitting and sewing, and game nights with friends. A private interment will be held at George Washington Cemetery on Friday, October 2, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will be planned at a later date. Contributions in memory of Dorothy Tupper can be made to Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) at www.maf.org, or to First Baptist Church of Hyattsville, 5701 42nd Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20781.
