Elizabeth “Frances” Mahmot, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the JK House of Grace Assisted Living Home in Silver Spring. She was born on June 7, 1927 in Washington D.C. She was the daughter of the late Minnie and Robert Stark. Mrs. Mahmot was a long-time member of the United Baptist Church of New Carrollton and a member of the Sigma Beta Sorority. She loved to play cards, bowl, garden, crochet, travel, and cook Sunday dinner. She retired as a cafeteria worker from Prince Georges County Public Schools. In retirement she joined the Red Hat Society, the Leisure Club, served in her church, and took many day trips with family and friends. Mrs. Mahmot was 5’2” but seemed much taller when talking about her family and her faith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeff Mahmot Sr (whom she first met on a USO Dance Floor) and married in 1948. Mrs. Mahmot is survived by her loving brother & best friend Gene Stark, two sons Jeffer Mahmot Jr, and Ronald Mahmot; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held in the presence of family (limited attendance due to COVID) at the Gasch’s Funderal Home, 4739 Baltimore Ave, Hyattsville, MD, Wednesday, May 20th. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg, RD, Brentwood, MD. Celina Yung-Hi (Kwak) Park, of College Park, MD passed away April 28, 2020. She was 89 years old. Celina was the proud mother of five children and three grandchildren. Celina’s greatest love was her husband of 48 years and her family.
Celina graduated from Ewha Womans University of Seoul, Korea in May 1953. In September of 1953, Celina was accepted into the scholarship program as a student of Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, South Dakota. After attending this program, Celina worked for several years in Washington, DC as a clerk for Army Times Publishing and Army Navy Journal, Inc. Celina met her husband, John Jai-Won Park in 1957 and they were married on October 25, 1958.
Celina is survived by her children, Paul Park (Jeanmarie), Michael Park (Sarah), Juliana Park (Todd Tescher), James Park and Nathaniel Park. Celina is also survived by her three grandchildren, Annelise Kathleen Park, Zachary John and Benjamin Isaac Tescher.
