He was born on June 28,1936, in Washington DC to Mary Myrtle Mattingly and Joseph Roy McGee. Soon after his twentieth birthday, Jimmy joined the US Air Force and dedicated the next 4 ½ years to proudly serving his country as an Airman in the 721st Radar Squadron, stationed at Willmar AFS in Minnesota. Jimmy was predeceased by his longtime love and companion of more than three decades, Virginia Epling. He met Virginia in the prime of his life, introduced at a party by a family member. Late in 2020, Jimmy moved to Silver Spring to be near his older brother, Skip and enjoy a small and simple condo with a view from the eighth floor. He was an avid fan of major league sports, especially baseball and football, always rooting for the home team. He loved to spend time with Tish and Jim, especially watching movies, football and sharing a meal.
