Suddenly on October 30th, 2020, Miss Mary Elizabeth Baker, of Hyattsville, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord. Mary was born in New York City in 1943. She is the beloved youngest child of the late Lt. Col. Leonard Austin Baker, Sr. and the late Catherine Louise Paddon Baker. She is survived by her oldest sister, Katherine Ann Broughman of Lusby, Maryland, a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mary is also survived by her devoted Goddaughter, Gloria Moore, of Maryland, and her precious adopted cat Two-Tori. Mary was predeceased by 6 siblings:  Leonard Austin, Jr., Harry Vernon, Susan Laura (Ronald), Harriet Louise, Milliard Alva, and Robert Lawrence (Ruth). Mary graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic High School in Washington, DC. After care giving for her parents until they passed, Mary worked for Hecht's Department Store of May Company in the Marlow Heights, Maryland shopping center for 38 years. Mary loved the Lord and served Him in all ways. Mary never learned to drive, but she relished going for long rides with her beloved personal driver, Goddaughter Gloria. After retiring, Mary enjoyed mountain hiking, watching wildlife, and caring for 2 feral cat colonies. She was an avid sports fan and video games enthusiast and loved reading about American history. Mary served as the Bingo Caller at her apartment home and helped deliver newspapers there. Mary was a blessing to all who knew her.

Miss Mary Elizabeth Baker's graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 5th at 12:30 p.m. at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland 20772. Miss Mary will be buried in the Garden Of Grace towards the back of the cemetery in plot GRACE344 Site 1.
