College Park, MD

Martin Patrick Dunn, 56, of College Park, MD, passed away at his home on June 15th, 2020.  Marty was born in Washington, DC.  He grew up in College Park where he attended Northwestern High School.  He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Notre Dame and a Juris Doctorate from The Washington College of Law at American University.  He worked for 20 years as an attorney at the US Securities and Exchange Commission where he served as Chief Counsel, Deputy Director and Acting Director of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance.  After leaving the SEC, he was a partner at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and most recently was senior counsel at Morrison & Foerster, LLP.

Marty enjoyed gathering people together whether for a Notre Dame Football or Arsenal soccer game, visiting the Outer Banks with family, or spending time in the yard with a homemade playlist in the background. Being nearly a lifetime resident of College Park, Marty was very loyal to his neighborhood and the friendships that he built there. He is remembered as a mentor to many that he worked with throughout his career, and always wanted the best for his people.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughters, Emily, Molly and Maggie, parents, Kay Dunn and Mike Dunn, stepfather Bob Colish, brothers Dunnie (Karen) and Charlie (Ginny) and stepsisters Mary (Chip), Linda (Ed) and Julia as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The visitation will be Friday, June 19th from 2-4 p.m. at Gasch’s Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20781.
