Maria Green

June 11, 1931 — June 22, 2022

Maria Antonia Green (Toni) was born June 11, 1931, in San Salvador, El
Salvador to Francisco Molina and Amalia Mayorga de Molina. She was the 7th
of 8 children--Roberto, Alfredo, Irma (Mima), Berta (Tita), Lydia, Aldeberto  and Gloria Teresa (Tera).

Toni was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Anthony Green (January 9th, 1992), whom she married on
April 7th, 1956. She met Joseph when he was on vacation in El Salvador. Her niece and godchild, Lois,
served as interpreter as Toni could not speak English yet and Joseph knew minimal Spanish.  Joseph and
Toni corresponded through the postal service and ham radio when he returned to the States, and within
a year Joseph proposed to her in a letter.

Together, Toni and Joseph built a wonderful life in Maryland centered around faith, family, and love.  Toni
was a devoted mother to their six children and an amazing grandmother.  Her generosity of heart and
time extended beyond her family and into the community.  Throughout the years, she gave anonymous
scholarships to St. Marks band and made numerous donations to Boys Town.
Toni enjoyed using her talents and gifts to bring joy to others.  Toni was both an extremely gifted sewer
(a talent learned from her mother, a seamstress and embroider) and a painter.  She has given countless
beautiful items of clothing, children’s costumes, furniture coverings, and curtains to her family over
generations.  Similarly, her stunning paintings, which include oils, watercolors, charcoal, and acrylic,
graced not only her home but the homes of many others.  She delighted in sharing her knowledge of
these crafts with her children, extended family, and grandchildren, taking the time teach them sewing,
painting, and crocheting.

In addition to being kind, gracious, and generous, Toni was strong.  She overcame many challenges in her
life, including surviving stage 4 breast cancer, kidney removal, a brain tumor, and seizures in her recent
years.  Despite these struggles, Toni remained an involved and loving mother to her children and a
beloved “Mamita”—an endearing name meaning “little mom”—to all her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sisters Berta (Tita) and Gloria Teresa (Tera), by her 6 children and spouses: Joseph,
J. Philip (Kathy), Patrick (Linda), Dolores (Ken), and Francisco (Malissa) Green and Maria “Aggey” (Tracy)
Dorsey.  She had been blessed with 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and
nephews.
