Jeffrey Cruz

Jeffrey Steven Cruz, age 47, of College Park, MD, passed away on Tuesday November 16th, 2021, after a devastating battle with a chronic illness.

Jeff was born on May 24, 1974 to Luz Maria & Domingo Cruz in Washington, D.C.

After attending The Holy Redeemer Catholic School from K-8th grade, and graduating from Parkdale High School in 1992, he went on to complete a Telecommunications apprenticeship with Local Union 26 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Throughout his career, Jeff worked for several different union companies. However, he spent the last 20 years working for Cabling Systems Inc.. Through his work, Jeff had the privilege of traveling all over the United States completing the work he loved and exploring most major cities.

In 1999, Jeff met Celina, and they wed in 2004. They went on to raise their two children, Noveya & Christian Mateo. Jeff took a lot of pride in being able to provide his family with the experience of frequently traveling all over the nation with him. Jeff also loved to visit his family in Puerto Rico. He loved the beauty and adventure inherent in exploring the island. Jeff also loved to eat Maryland crabs and enjoyed attending the crab feast hosted every year by his horseshoe league. Jeff wasn’t perfect, but he was a family man who overcame a lot of obstacles from his youth to live a life that was full of promise.

Jeff was predeceased by his mother, Luz Maria Cruz. He is survived by his father, Domingo Cruz, his stepmother Nora Cruz, his stepsister Jenny Carino, his nieces, Lesly & Miriam, his wife Celina Sargusingh, and his children Noveya and Mateo, as well as his in-laws Novella and Vernon Sargusingh, his brother-in-laws Schenley Sargusingh, Fausto Carino and Brandon Stewart, and his sister-in-law Sherita Sargusingh, all of whom loved him very much. Jeff also leaves behind a community of family and friends who loved him very dearly.
