Jeanne graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C. in 1955. She then worked as a stenographer and secretary for over 50 years with the CIA, University of Florida, the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare, American Chemical Society, Department of Defense, the U.S. Treasury, U.S. Customs, Department of Interior and the Franciscan Monastery for nineteen and a half years which she enjoyed serving as secretary to the commissary.

In her early years, Jeanne enjoyed art, bowling, Irish dancing, and Céilís. She was an accomplished accordion player who took lessons in Irish folk music. In later years, Jeanne especially enjoyed family trips to the beach and eating out with family and friends. She was grateful for her spiritual friendships with her prayer group buddies, especially hanging out with Hal and Terry, Alice, Kathy, Rose, and Linda. Jeanne was known for her wonderful smile, gentle spirit, love and kindness so generously shared with everyone she met.

Jeanne was a devout Catholic who loved God and always put Him first by attending daily masses, reading scripture, attending Perpetual Adoration Holy Hours, prayer meetings, and retreats. She was involved in numerous church ministries which included the St. Vincent de Paul Society serving the poor, saying the rosary at abortion clinics, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister to nursing home patients.

A significant “life changing” event for her was being baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1971. Jeanne later joined the Third Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and was professed Jeanne Marie Smith of the Most Holy Trinity in 1983. She was grateful for her spiritual directors Fr. George Joyce, Fr. Daniel Kirk, and Fr. Stack. Jeanne loved attending healing services and received both spiritual and physical healings. She also enjoyed being prayed over by Fr. Charlie. Before her death, she finally finished writing her book, God In My Life, prompted by the Lord to share His presence and goodness throughout her life as an evangelization witness of faith. Her daughter Sallie will now be working to get it published.
