A much-loved brother, cousin, uncle and friend, Ed Dalere, of Hyattsville, Md. passed away peacefully, April 18th, 2020 at Medstar Hospital, Washington, DC with his family electronically present.  He had bravely confronted a longtime illness due to a weakened heart condition and end-stage renal failure from diabetes.

Ed was born October 10, 1962, in Washington, DC, spent his growing years in Hyattsville, MD and resided primarily in Bethesda, MD his adult life.  He graduated from Northwestern Senior High School and received his Bachelors in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.  He began his career at the university and followed his journalist path as an Editor at Association TRENDS. Following TRENDS’ discontinuation of its print and online subscription offerings in early 2018, Ed served as Senior Manager, Communications and Publications at the American Academy of Audiology. His career also included stints with the Institute of Transportation Engineers, Retired Officers Association and Prince George’s Journal.

A devoted Catholic, Ed enjoyed his time serving the church.  He was a lecture at our family church, St. John the Baptist, Chillum, MD. and he also loved frequenting the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and his favorite Cathedral of St Matthews the Apostle where he served the church as Head Usher for many years.  He also supported the Young Adults Social Club of St. Matthews.

Ed was a tremendous light to his community. His passing is sorely felt, but the void can be filled with all the good memories he created with each of you. “He fought a good fight and he kept the faith”.  He goes forward to join our parents Maria and Bernardo in spiritual bliss.  Memorials may be made online at Gasch's Funeral Home in Hyattsville, MD.
