HYATTSVILLE

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Steven Alan Stewart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who departed this world on July 30, 2025, in Washington, DC, after bravely battling a long-term chronic illness. Born on March 11, 1950, in Paris, Kentucky, Steven lived a life full of love and laughter that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Steven devoted thirty years of his life to serving the Prince Georges County Department of Corrections, retiring in 2002. He was not just a dedicated employee; he was also a great storyteller, captivating those around him with tales from his experiences. His humor and warmth created a welcoming atmosphere wherever he went. An avid baseball fan, he cherished the simple joys of life, often sharing his passions for football and classic Western movies.

Family was at the heart of Steven's life. He found immense joy attending his children’s sporting events, proudly cheering them on from the sidelines. As the years passed, this passion evolved into sharing memorable moments with his granddaughter, Emma Yormie, accompanying her to her activities, and providing her with the same unwavering support he had given to his children. The bond they shared was undoubtedly a treasure, filled with laughter and fond memories.

Steven is survived by his loving wife, Anne Stewart, with whom he spent an incredible 52 years, navigating life’s ups and downs side by side. He is also survived by his sons, Steven Stewart Jr. and Scott Stewart, and his daughter, Sara Yormie, married to John Yormie. Each of them carries forward Steven's legacy of love, resilience, and dedication to family. His spirit will also continue to inspire through his beloved granddaughter, Emma Yormie, who will always remember the fun times spent together.

Additionally, Steven is survived by his four sisters,Melissa Cruz, Sharon Garlach, Rosemary Hill, and Amy Crowe, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Kathleen Stewart, and his parents, Robert and Annabelle Stewart. Steven’s absence will also be felt deeply by many other loved ones who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we gather to celebrate his life, we find solace in knowing that Steven's stories, laughter, and love will continue to echo in the lives of those he touched.
