Scott W. Brumbaugh

Scott Withers Brumbaugh passed away April 14, 2026, after struggling with many health issues over the past eighteen months.

He was born May 18, 1959, in Takoma Park, Maryland, and spent most of his childhood in Seabrook, Maryland. After graduation, he joined the Carpenters Union and became a union master carpenter for over 20 years. During his time in the Union, he oversaw the building of a shopping center in Ecuador, South America. In 2000 he advanced to be the Carpenters Union’s Washington Regional Business Representative, and he taught at the Union’s carpentry school. He retired in 2020 after 46 years with the Union.

For more than 30 years, Scott was an active member of the Suburban Lions Club in Glenn Dale, Maryland, which is a part of the Lions Clubs International which is a humanitarian service organization. During his time with the Lions, he supported the Lions Low Vision Research Foundation at Johns Hopkins and the Lions’ Camp Merrik. He collected used eyeglasses to donate and used medical equipment for loan to those in need. He managed their annual fundraising Christmas tree lot sales in Glenn Dale.

Since 2006, Scott was also an active member of the Collington Masonic Lodge #230. Over the years, he served as past Worshipful Master, past President of the Collington Holding Corporation, and was a current Catechism Instructor. He led and participated in their many outreach and service programs and oversaw maintenance of the property.

After retirement, Scott worked part-time at the Bowie Golf Course. As an avid golfer himself, he enjoyed the perks of his new employment. He was a member of the NRA since 2022 and earned his license in the use of firearms. He enjoyed two successful salmon fishing expeditions in Alaska and return to Alaska once more in 2024. He loved Elvis and John Wayne. He was generous and funny and a character.

Scott is survived by his grandson, Devon Brumbaugh-Surrett of West Palm Beach, Florida; his mother, Shirley Brumbaugh; sister Debra Blake (Ronald); sister Donna Baldwin (Larry), nieces and nephews, and numerous relatives. He is predeceased by his father, Samuel W. Brumbaugh; daughter Nina Brumbaugh, and brother Samuel L. Brumbaugh.
