On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, Russell Daggs passed suddenly into the open arms of Jesus Christ. He joined his father, Worthy B. Daggs, Jr. (age 68) in Heaven since 1986, and his mother, Marie Daggs (age 97), who went to Heaven in March 2017.
A resident of a group home in Dunkirk, Russell enjoyed listening to music, being in the company of his roommates, and interacting with the loving, caring staff of the Arc of Southern Maryland.
He also enjoyed the staff and activities of Friendly Health Services.
Born in December 1947, and developmentally disabled from birth, he was loved and cared for by his parents at home for many years. After spending several years in Maryland state facilities, he transferred to the home in Dunkirk in 1995. His mother was devoted to his care and visited often from Hyattsville, MD to attend to his needs and bring him homemade goodies and pie, his favorite dessert. Russell was a handsome man, who looked like his father and grandfather, and loved their companionship in years past.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Janice Wiley (Tom) of Annapolis, MD, and his brother, Glenn Daggs, of Laurel, MD. He is also survived by a cousin, Donald Daggs (Kathi) of Sweetwater, TN, and other cousins on his mother’s side.
A private graveside service will be held on November 15, 2017 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD.
A celebration of life reception is planned for a later date, where friends are welcome to share their stories about Russell.
