Robert Joseph Feeney, age 53, was born in Prince George’s County, Maryland on July 23rd, 1971, 5 mins before his twin brother, John Kenneth. He was known for his big heart, sense of humor and deep love for his family and friends.
Robert grew up primarily in Mount Rainier, Maryland with his grandparents, James Thomas (deceased) and Irene (Redington) Feeney (deceased) and graduated in 1989 from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. He was rarely separated from his twin brother, John, and along with their older brother, James, they were known across their old stomping grounds as “The Feeney Brothers”. Their crew included dear friends to this day, Kirk Balthazar, Wayne Boyd and many others.
Robert, a 2-time decorated Bronze Medal of Valor recipient, served the community as a Volunteer Firefighter starting at the age of 16 with the Mt. Rainier Volunteer Fire Department and worked as a career Firefighter for the Washington, D.C. Fire Department.
In January 2019, life and the grace of the universe reconnected Robert with Theresa Callahan. They cherished each other and that love brought him to Ocean Pines, Maryland. They have a forever bond.
Robert, in addition to those listed above, is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Gertrude and Frank Fones, father James Martin Feeney, Mother Linda (Fones) Feeney and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his Uncle Frank Fones.
Robert had Philadelphia Eagles gear for every occasion and relished giving his sister-in-law, Peggy Bailey, a hard time about her Dallas Cowboys. He loved goofy comedies and anything related to the fire service. He and his family, led by his Aunt Mary Ann and Uncle Gary Smullen, could sit around and tell stories of their younger days for hours. Robert’s laugh would rise above them all and you knew you had told a good one if you got a ‘God Love Ya’ from him.
Robert is gone from this earth far too early, but we all have a loyal angel who can ‘Fly Eagle Fly’.
