Obituary for Martin Rivera Robles (November 20, 1961 – February 7, 2022)

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10”

Martin Rivera Robles was the youngest born to the late Jose Rivera and Manuela Robles Ortiz, in San Juan, Puerto Rico on November 20, 1961.  He moved to Washington, DC during the 80’s in search for better opportunities.  Martin eventually found a position as a nursing assistant, at the Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center. He worked there for most of his adult life, and until he went on disability. While at the Medical Center, he did what he knew best – being the helping and humanitarian person he has always been with everyone who crossed path with him.

Martin was raised Catholic and attended Mass with the family since he was little. He loved to play kids games, he studied and practice martial arts while young, he loved going to the beach, loved the music and especially enjoyed his Salsa music and was a dancer at heart.  He was a loving son to his parents, and always there for them. He always followed the guidance of his three older siblings and was loved dearly by each of them.

Martin was an avid sports fan. His favorite sport was baseball and his favorite team was the Washington Nationals. Martin was also a loyal Washington Redskins fan or whatever they want to call themselves now .

Martin was long known as a shining example of a kind man, for his positive outlook on life, trustworthy, noble, a loyal and unconditional friend, smooth talker, his sense of humor, his patience, for his ability to engage with people and his willingness to help anyone and everyone who came in his path.  He was best friend of many and enriched lives just by being present.

Martin is survived by his mother Manuela Robles Ortiz, his brothers Luis Robles and Jose Robles, and his sister Rosa Robles. He is preceded in death by his father Jose Rivera.

Obituario de Martin Rivera Robles (20 de Noviembre de 1961 - 8 de Febrero de 2022)

“No tengas miedo pues yo estoy contigo; no temas pues yo soy tu Dios.
