Marie Daggs

On Monday, March 13, 2017, Marie passed peacefully in her sleep into the open arms of Jesus Christ. She joined her husband, Worthy B. Daggs, Jr., already in heaven since 1986. A resident of Arbor Ridge at Riderwood in Silver Spring, MD, she suffered from dementia in her senior years.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA in July of 1919 to immigrant Ukrainian parents, Alex and Mary Sydavar, she lived a life of hardship in her young years and through the Great Depression. She married in November 1941, and moved to MD to become a devoted wife and mother. She is survived by her three children: her oldest, developmentally disabled son, Russell of Dunkirk, MD, her devoted daughter, Janice Wiley (Tom) of Annapolis, MD, and youngest son and dog lover, Glenn, of Laurel, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Ann Schwartz of Pittsburgh, PA, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, John and Edward. A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at noon at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD. A celebration of life memorial service will be held in April at Arbor Ridge at Riderwood.
