Leslie Ann McCreary (formerly Leslie Ann Prince, née Hyatt), 55, passed away unexpectedly on July 22, 2026.
Born on June 18, 1971, Leslie was the beloved daughter of Anna (Crapo) Hyatt and William F. Hyatt, Sr.
A 1989 graduate of Northwestern High School, Leslie dedicated her life to the care and education of young children. She began her career in early childhood education in 1990 and spent more than 35 years nurturing, teaching, and supporting the needs of countless children and their families. Leslie devoted 29 years to Greenwood School in Hyattsville, Maryland, where she became a trusted and beloved teacher to generations of children. From 2020 to 2023, she continued her work at Greenway Learning Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, before relocating to Southern Maryland. There, she continued sharing her passion for nurturing and educating young children at Solomon’s Day Care Center. During her three years there, she touched the lives of many children and families with the same care and dedication that defined her career.
Leslie was known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering work ethic. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and found great joy in caring for others. Her passion for working with young children extended beyond the classroom. While working full-time, Leslie completed the necessary coursework and earned her associate’s degree in early childhood education. At the time of her passing, she was preparing to pursue a bachelor’s degree, a testament to her lifelong commitment to learning and to providing the very best for the children in her care.
Those who knew Leslie will remember her kind heart and friendly nature. She had a special gift for making children laugh and for forming lasting relationships with the children, their families, and her coworkers.
Leslie is survived by her loving parents, Anna (Crapo) Hyatt and William F. Hyatt, Sr.; her sisters, Lisa Wilkinson (Jeff), Robin Webster (Scott), and Jennifer Crapo; her brothers, William F. “Harvey” Hyatt, Jr., Benjamin Joseph “B.J.” Crapo, and Robert Murray; twelve nieces and nephews; one great-niece; dear friends, former coworkers, and the countless children and families whose lives were enriched by her love, care, and dedication.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Prince and Rick McCreary.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Hyattsville, Maryland, on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 10:00am.

Leslie’s greatest legacy lives on in the countless young lives she helped shape. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, coworkers, and the many children and families who were blessed to know her.
