Jerry Dyer

Jerry (Jerrel) Dyer, age 79, died on December 5, 2025. Surrounded by his wife and children, he left this world peacefully after a life well lived and profoundly loved. Jerry was born on October 28, 1946, in Maysville, Kentucky, to his (late) parents Irvin and Zelma. He grew up with his (late) brother Galen in Georgetown, Ohio, and joined the Navy in 1966, where he served his country with honor in the Vietnam War.

Jerry is survived by his wife Janet, his children (and spouses) Paula, Heather (Christos), Nicholas (Arianna), and Lindsay (Stephanie), his grandchildren Emily, Penelope, and Andreas, sister-in-law Barb, and nephews Brent and Bryan. He was preceded in death by son-in-law James Kiernan.

For almost 32 years, Jerry was devoted to his beloved wife Janet, with whom he built a loving home filled with warmth, humor, and unwavering support. Together they created countless memories, weathered storms big and small, and shared important milestones. His love for his family was the center of his world.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, December 11, at Gasch’s Funeral Home 4739 Baltimore Avenue Hyattsville, Maryland, where family and friends are invited to gather to honor Jerry’s memory and share stories of a life lived with purpose and integrity. Friends may join the family for a reception from 4:30pm - 7:30pm at Greenbelt Vol. Fire Dept. 125 Crescent Road Greenbelt MD 20770

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Maryland Food Bank.
