Janice M. Mozie-Woods departed this life peacefully on April 12, 2024. She was born to the late Robert Mozie, Sr. and Pauline Mozie. She left to cherish a devoted husband of 40 years, Harrison Woods, Sr. Three children, Kenneth Mozie (Hamika), Harrison Woods, Jr. (Letisha), and a dedicated daughter, Brittny Woods. Five grandchildren, Mason Mozie, Mikenzie Mozie, Gabriella” Gabby” Woods, and twins Harrison Woods III and William Woods. Three sisters, Barbara Mozie, Marva Dunbar (late Willie Dunbar), Sandra Kosh (“Mickey” Ronald), and a loving Aunt, Evelyn Tuckson (late Dr. Reed Tuckson). Also, she leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly. Janice was preceded in death by three siblings and their spouses, Donald Mozie (Theresa Mozie), Doris Mozie, and Robert Mozie Jr. (Cleora Mozie).
Janice started her day by greeting her husband, children, and grandchildren saying, “Good morning, have a great and blessed day,” and "I love you.” Janice had a special and unique relationship with her children and grandchildren, and it was amazing to witness how she could give each of them their own special time and experience with her. Janice's relationship with her daughter Brittny was truly one of a kind. They had a bond like no other. She enjoyed Brittny’s company so much that she was known to say, “Bebe, what took you so long,” even if Brittny was only gone for five minutes. Janice also looked forward to seeing her sons, even though she didn’t see them as often as she’d liked. Janice would not hesitate to end a phone call with Brittny when either son would call her, saying “Brittny, I have to go! My first born (Kenneth) is calling me” or “my baby boy (Harrison) is calling me.”
Her sense of humor and wit were unmatched. She found humor in everything, including the challenges that she faced, even during her final days. Janice stayed in contact with many family members near and far, as well as long-time friends, while often providing support by listening and giving advice when necessary. Very often, being the person everyone would call to verify or confirm someone’s birthday because we knew Janice would know. Janice also could find a needle in a haystack. Before the cell phone and pager days, she had a way of finding you no matter where you were. Can you imagine being in a store, at a busy mall, in a dressing room, and a Sales Associate calls out your name and informs you that your sister Janice is on the phone? This is just one of many instances of her using her ability to locate something or someone when everything else fails.
Janice, we will miss you!
