Gerald B Roper, Sr.

Gerald (Jerry) Roper, Sr, 77 of Greenbelt, Md died on July 25, 2025, at his home after years of battling colon cancer.

He was born on February 28, 1948, in Washington, DC, and was the son of John and Geraldine Roper. After joining the army and serving in the Vietnam War he resided in Prince George’s County where he worked as an HVAC Technician.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rebecca Wittig and two sons Callum and Gerald Jr of Greenbelt. He is also survived by two sisters, Jackie Holohan (John) and Joan Kinze, sister-in-law Cathy Wittig-Donald and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Lawrence and John, and a sister Sherrianne DiSabatino.

A service for Jerry will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church, 14900 Annapolis Road, Bowie at 2pm.
