Genevieve "Nana" Wells

Taylorsville, NC

Genevieve “Nana” Wells, 74, went to be with Jesus and her late husband, Charles Hunter Wells, on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

She was born on January 11, 1950, in Washington, DC, to the late Paul Colbert and Alma Carder Colbert.  Jean Pack, whom her mother married later.  She worked for Prince George’s County Maryland Police Department as a crossing guard and was a frequent investor for the local church bingo. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and famous Nana, whom her family truly loved and adored, and will miss her dearly.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald and Ronald Colbert and her sister, Oddie Fink, surviving is one sister Pauline Colbert of Cumberland, MD.

She is survived by her children, Charles P. Wells (Jennifer) of Granite Quarry, NC, Donald Wells (Jane) of Lanham, MD and Ann Hucks of NC; her grandchildren, Scott, Chad (Gabby), Dylan (Riley), Charles David (Karla), Travis, Cady (Tyler), Harley (Emily), Kenny, Amanda, Alex, Mikey, and Jacob; and 18 great grandchildren, Colton, Liam, Chase, Ashlyn, Sophia, Kingsley, Amelia, Rosie, Nova, Taegan, Evelyn, Charlotte, Ethan, William, Izzy, Teagen, Carolyn, and Harper.

Her family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., on Monday, March 11, at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, NC. Another visitation will be held in Hyattsville, MD at Gasch’s Funeral Home from 11am-12pm on Thursday March 14, 2024.  Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park in Rockviille, MD at 1pm. A repass will follow up with Momma's favorite family meal at Bladensburg Volunteer Fire Dept in Bladensburg, MD.

Her family would like to say a special Thank You to all the staff at Clapps Nursing Home of Pleasant Garden and Authoracare Hospice for their care, compassion and love shown to Genevieve and her family while she was in their care.
