Gary Wayne Riley

December 23, 1939 — May 20, 2025

Gary was born on December 23, 1939, in Washington, DC, to Agatha and James Riley. He spent his early years in various parts of the metro area, mostly in Riverdale. Gary graduated from Northwestern High School in 1957 and served in the military. He lived in various places of the metro area, and after retirement, settled in his parents’ home place in Adelphi.

Gary worked for the U.S. Post Office for approximately 31 years. He enjoyed tinkering, traveling, dancing to German polka music, going to the American Legion on Friday evenings, and doing just about anything outdoors. He loved his old cars and flew his own Cherokee Piper airplane and loved having others go with him. Gary especially enjoyed his many cats.

Gary leaves behind many cousin family members. We will sorely miss his smiling face and readiness to tell a joke.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 29th, 2025 from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm at Gasch's Funeral Home, 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD. Burial to follow at George Washington Cemetery
