Evelyn Louise Vartabedian

Evelyn Vartabedian, wife of Joseph Vartabedian, died peacefully on August 26, 2023, at her home in Bowie, Maryland.

Evelyn is survived by her four children, Elise, Jack, Geri and Peter, and 3 grandchildren, Theo and Zoe Couloumbis, and Joseph Vartabedian.

She was the loving daughter of Peter and Geraldine Stephanos, and sister of Tom Stephanos.

She was a native of Washington D.C. and Maryland, and involved in church and community activities. Along with being a devoted mother and wife, she taught Sunday school, served on church committees, and in more recent years, volunteered her time at hospice and hospital facilities visiting patients and delivering flowers. She gave of herself in many ways, and touched the lives of people who will always remember her.

A Viewing and Funeral Service will be at Saint Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street, Washington, DC on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 12:30PM.

A memorial meal will immediately follow the service. Interrment will be private for family members at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood. MD

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2815 36th Street, Washington, DC 20007.
