Doris Blanche (Hornbaker) Foy, 91, of College Park, MD, passed away on Monday, February 24th, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles D. Foy, and her four sisters. She leaves her son, David, and his wife, Jeryl, of Zebulon, NC; her grandsons, Eric, and his wife, Ashleigh, of Leesburg, VA, and Brian, of Minneapolis, MN; a stepgrandson, Jordan Smitter, and his wife, Lauren, of Raleigh, NC, and three great grandsons, Brendan and Liam Foy of Leesburg, VA, and Spencer Smitter, of Raleigh, NC.
Born in Evanston, IL in 1928, Doris attended business college in Chicago and worked for the U.S. Steel Corporation. She and Charles married in 1950, and David was born in 1953. The family lived in Northwest Arkansas for several years before relocating to the greater Washington, DC area in 1961, where they remained for the rest of their lives. She worked briefly for the U.S. Government Printing Office and Hecht Company but was primarily a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, travel, word search puzzles and chocolate, was a devoted animal lover and had a wry sense of humor.
The family gratefully acknowledges the assistance, care and concern of her neighbors, church friends and other acquaintances.
