Betty Lou Howard peacefully passed while at Hillhaven Rehabilitation and Nursing Home at noon on August 22, 2023.
Betty was born on September 15, 1939 to Ira and Esther Hines in Riverdale, Maryland.
She met her husband, George William Howard, Jr (Bill) through a mutual friend. They were married on March 19, 1960 and settled in Riverdale, now Riverdale Park, MD.
She enjoyed decorating her yard for Halloween and greeting the trick-or-treaters. Thanksgiving and Christmas had her gathering the family for holiday dinner. She always complained that she never got the Christmas tree done before everyone arrived.
Betty had a very green thumb. Her yard is planted with tulips, daffodils, roses, peonies, azaleas, and small bushes and trees.
Betty is survived by her sister, Freda Rasch; children, Gregory (Paulette) Howard, Karyn Howard, Lori Hagler; grandchildren, Joshua Hagler, Christopher (Brittany) Hagler, Kayleigh (Alex) Folkner; great-granddaughter Elowen Folkner, and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George William Howard, Jr. (Bill); her parents, Ira and Esther Hines; her sisters, Edith Bierly and Clara Hines, and her brothers, Robert and Charles Hines.
