Barbara Jean Williams

Barbara Jean Coleman Williams, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on May 18th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born February 8th, 1947, in Lexington, North Carolina, Barbara spent her childhood in Suitland, Maryland, the eldest of six children. She was a woman of strong will and unwavering love, a testament to her enduring spirit.

Barbara’s career spanned several years as a dedicated secretary, working at locations including Framatone Technologies and the University of Maryland. Outside of her professional life, she found immense joy in the simple pleasures: tending her garden, watching the birds flitting about, and savoring a refreshing cup of coffee, iced tea, or Pepsi.

She leaves behind three cherished children: William Briggs, Jami Hussain, and Jared Williams, who will deeply miss their mother’s loving presence. Barbara is also survived by her loving and dedicated husband, James Douglas Williams. Barbara was predeceased by her son, Michael Briggs, and finds peace now in his company. Her memory will forever be cherished by her many nieces and nephews, and her grandchildren.

A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at Gasch's Funeral Home in Hyattsville, MD on Sunday, May 25th, 2025, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. A short religious service will commence at 12:00 pm, followed by a luncheon. All who knew and loved Barbara are warmly invited to join in remembering and celebrating her life.
