William Garcia

December 7, 1973 — April 22, 2018

William “Tino” Garcia passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the age of 44, as a result of a tragic house fire. He resided in a group home operated by Arundel Lodge in Severn, MD. Beloved son of the Rev. Anne Langerak and the late Guillermo Garcia, William was a cherished brother of Maria Antonieta Rodil and Olga Garcia, beloved brother-in-law of Martin Rodil, and cherished uncle of Camila and Matias Rodil. William’s death is mourned by his family in New York State, Atlanta GA, Virginia, the DC region, and Costa Rica. William loved to travel and was a geography enthusiast. He had resided with his family in several countries, where he managed to learn the local languages. In spite of his limitations, William “Tino” made an impact on others by his friendly and caring attitude and his enjoyment of lively conversations, in which he would make people laugh. Given his needs, in recent years he was supported by Arundel Lodge and the Providence Center, and enabled to work in the community.  A Memorial Service will be held at St. Matthew’s/San Mateo Episcopal Church, 5901 -36th Avenue, Hyattsville, MD 20782, on Saturday, May 12, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Arundel Lodge, Inc., 2600 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
