Riverdale

Thelma was called home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2019. Born on February 25, 1924 in Riverdale, MD. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 30 years, Charles Henry Witte (in 1973); parents Milo and Matilda Ress; and three siblings, Jeanette, James and George. She is survived by her two children, son Larry Paul (Connie) and daughter Sondra Jean (Tim Beltz); two grandchildren, Laura (Jerry Buchanan) and Lisa (Gerry Masse) and five great grandchildren, Justin, Josh, Jason, Gavin and Nolan.

Thelma worked at the Pentagon during WWII as a high school intern and several years at Arbitron coordinating and entering Nielsen ratings. She was always willing to help and volunteered at Prince George’s General Hospital working with new mothers and spent 25 years at College Park Methodist Church assisting with the Meals on Wheels program. She had a love for flowers and enjoyed gardening her beautiful yard and won several environmental beautification awards from the township of New Carrollton. She was an avid sports fan, especially for the Maryland Terrapins, she traveled with the team to many events around the conference. We are surviving this loss knowing that you are with God and by remembering your love and the wonderful memories you shared with each of us.
