Cell Phones for Soldiers
More than 150,000 troops are serving overseas and are away from their families. We’re calling on families in our area to support these brave men and women by donating used cell phones. By simply bringing your old cell phone to our funeral home, you will be providing families with a much-needed connection to their loved ones overseas.
Bring in your old cell phone to:

The Story
Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded in 2004 by Brittany Bergquist, and her younger brother, Robbie. At the time she was only 13 years old, but found the inspiration from an early morning newscast. In the essay she wrote for the Amway Positivity Award completion, Brittany shares the details…

“It was a rainy morning in April 2004. I was 13. The television blared while my family rushed through the morning routine. Little did we know, this was the day that would not only change our lives, but change the lives of thousands of military service men and women all over the world. It was the beginning of "positivity" in my life.
That morning a news broadcast spoke to a need that military families experience year round. The ability to call home while serving our country is a costly challenge that an approximate 65 percent of families either do not have access to or simply cannot afford.
Building this program has given me the most positive and motivating experience of my life, and has motivated corporate and individual groups to work for the betterment of our military communities. If awarded the Positivity Project's grand Positivity Prize, the monetary award would continue my mission to help families by providing a cost-free way for military personnel to connect with loved ones. This has become my life's mission and I'm "positive" we will change the lives of thousands more.”
Our Commitment
Each of us has the power to change lives, in both large and small ways. We can’t think of an easier way to change lives than this – after all, Americans just like you will replace over 130,000 phones this year. Can you imagine just how much that used cell phone you’re discarding will mean to a soldier, far from home?
We’re deeply committed to this cause. Take a few minutes of time, and bring in your old cell phone to us. We’ll do the rest. In that way, we make it even easier for you to give someone the power of connection – no matter how far away they are.
