Pearl Dove

July 24, 1933 — June 15, 2015

Pearl Marie Dove was born on July 24, 1933 in Washington, D.C. to Thomas Allen Hayes and Edith Clementine (Neff) Hayes. She was the third child of three girls. She married Howard Vincent Dove, Jr. on May 3, 1952 and they were married for 63 years. A son, James Vincent Dove was born on April 9, 1955 and in 1990 he married Cynthia Leigh Burke. Their marriage was blessed with a daughter, Ashleigh Gillian Dove, on December 1, 1995.
She graduated from Eastern High School, Washington, D.C. in 1951. After graduation she went to Atlantic City, New Jersey with several of her high school classmates.
Pearl's first work experience was at the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. She later worked for the Selective Service Board in Hyattsville, Maryland where she was the secretary of the board. She and her husband would later own a records storage/micrographics company for over 12 years.
She travelled with her husband to many Air Force bases while he was in the Air Force. Her travels took her to North Carolina, Maine, Hawaii, California, and Washington, D.C. While in Hawaii she visited Kauai, and the big island of Hawaii as well as taking a trip to Japan. While in Japan, the family visited Mount Fujiyama, rode on the Bullet Express Train and attended church at the Cathedral in Tokyo as well as seeing a Kabuki play in Tokyo.
She loved taking time to go boating and fishing whenever she could, but sometimes just liked to enjoy th outdoors on the Chesapeake Bay.
Pearl was active in the Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday School for several years.
Her favorite time was watching her granddaughter, Ashleigh, ride in horse shows and followed her in those events even in the coldest weather. She was very proud of her and of all the awards she won.
Friends may call at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Avenue, Hyattsville, MD on Friday, June 19 from 10:30 AM until service time at 12:00. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
