Celeste Murphy

On Friday, May 31, 2013 of Hyattsville, MD and St. Augustine Beach, FL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends. Beloved mother of Christopher Murphy and Regina Murphy Day. Cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Day. Celeste is an aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and great-great-great aunt to over 100 nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many loving friends and neighbors. Celeste was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Frank J. Murphy. Celeste was a native Washingtonian, born June 5, 1925, attended Nativity Catholic School and graduated from St. Paul's Academy in 1943. She worked at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Department of the Navy and the Department of Defense (Pentagon) before becoming a homemaker and mother. She was a lifelong member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly, MD. Family and friends may call at Gasch's Funeral Home, P.A., 4739 Baltimore Ave., Hyattsville, MD on Monday, June 3 from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, June 4 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Wednesday, June 5 at 11 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 3107 63rd Ave., Cheverly, MD. Interment Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
